Columbia home health agency now part of LifePoint Health and LHC Group joint venture partnership

March 9, 2018

South Carolina HomeCare, a provider of home health and other post-acute care services for patients in Columbia and the surrounding area, is now operating as part of a joint venture agreement between healthcare providers LifePoint Health® and LHC Group. The agency was previously wholly owned by LHC Group.

LifePoint Health is the parent company of Providence Health. Under its new ownership structure, South Carolina HomeCare will be aligned with Providence Health, which will allow both organizations to enhance and expand their services to better meet the needs of people throughout Central South Carolina. The agency also has changed its name and will operate under the new name of Providence Home Health.

In its ongoing commitment to provide quality home healthcare to patients and their families, Providence Home Health will continue to deliver excellent patient care with the same local staff of highly trained home health professionals under the direct supervision of patients’ physicians. The agency will continue operating from its current location at 140 Stoneridge Dr, Suite 620.

“Home health care is vital in today’s healthcare environment, and there is a growing need for this kind of service in our community,” said Scott Campbell, market president and chief executive officer of Providence Health. “We are delighted to partner with South Carolina HomeCare, LHC Group, and LifePoint to explore ways to strengthen home health and post-acute care in Columbia and expand the support we offer patients and their families at home.”

In 2017, LHC Group and LifePoint Health finalized a joint venture partnership to operate select home health and hospice agencies, combining the experience and expertise of both companies and creating new opportunities to develop and expand post-acute services in the communities they serve. The joint venture is governed by a board with equal representation from both companies.

Home healthcare is an effective and affordable solution for many patients’ post-acute care needs and situations. Home health professionals treat a wide range of medical conditions, allowing patients to rest and recover in the comfort of home.
